"We" are the licensee and operator of Amateur Radio VE3OAT, a radio station licensed by the federal government of Canada, operating in the Amateur Radio Service under regulations of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Canadian government. I have held the licence for VE3OAT for over 20 years. You may hear me occasionally on radio frequencies allocated to the Amateur Radio Service, particularly in the 17, 20, 30, 40, and 80 metre Amateur bands. This station is located near Ottawa, Canada. In other circles, I am also known by name as Martin Potter (g).
As you can see from the content of these pages, amateur radio is not my only interest and I have been unfairly criticised for having too many hobbies (gasp!). Anyway, only my main interests are explored here, these being family history, amateur radio and several associated technical activities, amateur astronomy (although local sky conditions frustrate any attempt to see very much), an undisciplined reading habit (but mainly history, politics, and hard science fiction) and all things scientific. These pages may be reached through the general links at the top of the page or through the detailed links at left. I hope you will find something useful or interesting here.
